Lessons Learned

As much as I sometimes hate to admit it, I do believe that everything happens for a reason and we should learn something from all of our experiences.

As you may or may not know, I'm not 100% happy with my job currently. There are a lot of reasons that would require a whole new post, but it has caused me to think about a few things lately.

Some lessons that I've learned along the way, that (hopefully) will make me a better person.

{A.} You can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat the people they manage.

{B.} Kind of a subscript to A. - When you are the person managing - try to remember how you like to be treated and treat others that way. It will go a long way to building lasting relationships.

{C.} Life is short and every day is precious. So put the to-do list aside to take your nephews on a "field trip." You'll be glad you did.

{D.} Dance! Do not concern yourself with what your abilities as a dancer are - just get out there and have fun! I may look like an idiot on the dance floor, but trust me, I am having more fun out there than you are having sitting on a stool watching me.

{E.} Be yourself. If you are true to who you are in your soul, everything else will work itself out. (It may not be on your timeline, but it will work out.)

{F.} The only way to get love, is to give it away. So love freely

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one. I slacked a little on P90X last week. I feel really bad about it. I'm going to be better this week, I really am.

two. Tomorrow is my follow up from my skin cancer screening. I don't think I told you, but they did two biopsies on my back. I'm not super nervous, but it is a little scary.

three. I still haven't started fundraising for my 3-Day Breast Cancer walk in November. I really need to do that.

four. It may have occurred to me this weekend that I use Biggie as an excuse when I want to do childish things. For example, go to the Railroad Park or see Sesame Street Live. Is that wrong?

five. This weekend is the Fourth of July!! I'll be celebrating it in small town fashion in the southern part of the state. I'm talking about parades, street fairs, and rodeos. I can not wait!

Football, Football, Hey!

I will be the first to admit that I am not a huge soccer fan.

I think it stems from the fact that there isn't much scoring going on.

I need to get excited about the games I'm watching and there's only so much back and forth that I can handle without a score.

However, it is World Cup time and it seems to be the craze, so I decided to do a little research.

And you're going to be surprised to find out that I found a few reasons to love soccer!

Landon Donovan.
He scored the game-winning goal in the 91st minute for the USA to beat Algeria.

Cristiano Ronaldo.
He plays for Portugal.
Who really cares about anything else?

Lukas Podolski.
I'd love to tell you about him, but his Facebook page was in German.
And I don't speak that language.

But, my favorite soccer player EVER:

Is IC-member, Beckham!
How adorable is he?

Wednesday Wisdom

As I told you in this post, I love music!

And today's wisdom comes from a song.

"Horses were made to run

And the sun was meant to shine above

And flowers were made to bloom

Then there’s us

We were born to love"

Living in a War Zone

Dirty found a baby scorpion in our kitchen last night.

So small it looked like it had been zapped with that Honey, I Shrunk the Kids laser.

Luckily, it was already dead.

But it means that they are getting into my house again.

It is time to release the poison - I will not stand for an invasion on my soil.

After all, if you're not with us, you're against us.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters
(Ok, I'll play along this week...)

one. Week 3 of P90X is underway. Lord, help me make it through - I just realized that week 4 has two days of yoga. Eek!

two. The more I see my nephews, the more I miss them. For example, I just spent a better part of Saturday with them and today, my heart aches to hold them.

three. I got a pedicure this weekend, O'Dub and I are currently arguing about whether my toes are now pink or red. (I vote pink...)

four. I am currently looking for a skirt that matches the orange snake-skin print on these new shoes. HELP!

five. My blog needs a new design and a new feel - stay tuned for a makeover soon.

six. I have some Asian short ribs in the crock pot at home and I am drooling just thinking about them!

seven. We are creeping closer to my favorite holiday of the year and I currently don't have plans for a celebration - I'm freaking out a little.

eight. I don't have a lucky number. Should that concern me?

Happy Father's Day!

To all of the dads out there (although I'm pretty sure none of them read this blog...)

But especially to my dad, PapaBear!

I am lucky to have such a wonderful father in my life!

He has taught me that there is no substitute for hard work. That honesty is always the best policy. And that no matter what, my dad will always love me!

And I know that it is going to continue to be an uphill battle to find a man as good as my dad!

I love you, Papa!
