You Know Who I Don't Miss?

Did any of you see the Smurfs movie?

We took the nephews to see it in the theater and I thought it was cute, but I have to say that my favorite part of the movie was when they were in NYC and they were talking about missing everyone back home and Smurfette says, "You know who I don't miss? Passive Aggressive Smurf...when he leaves I always feel really bad."

It was a moment of cinematic genius!

(Ok, that might be a stretch...)

You may not know this about me, but right after chronic tardiness, passive aggressiveness tops my list of pet peeves.

Perhaps it is because I am rarely shy about asking for what I want, but it just drives me batty when people try to get their way through passive aggressive behavior.

ASK

FOR

WHAT

YOU

WANT!!!

This weekend Match, Papa, and I took the nephews to Flagstaff for a mini vacation. We were in the truck and Tiny was eating a bag of Cheetos when Biggie looked at me and said, "I wish I had some Cheetos."

Well, as Popie used to say, you can wish in one hand and sh*t in the other and tell me which one fills up first.

I just don't get it. Do you want Cheetos? Does someone in the truck have Cheetos? Isn't it easier to just ask, "Tiny, can I have some of your Cheetos?"

Please, can someone explain this behavior to me?

I'm not a doctor, but I'm losing my patience...

two more to go

The good news: I don't think I can do 150 wall balls in 12 minutes.
The bad news: I had to do 133 wall balls in 12 minutes.

breaking all the rules

Spent my lunch hour enjoying the Arizona springtime weather on the balcony at work.

I had to wheel a conference room chair out and eat off of my lap, but it was worth it!

Spent a Fun Friday with Glinda painting pottery.

I'm not very good, but I have fun anyway!

My first attempt at almond "breaded" chicken breasts and Paleo pasta carbonara.

It wasn't too bad, but I'll make a few adjustments next time.

to the limit

I have had a lot of anxiety during this CrossFit Open process and when this workout came out I realized it was for good reason. I can't do toes-to-bar.

But I showed up at the gym on a Thursday to give it hell...

defeated

Because I could do 20" box jumps and 75 lb. push presses, the coach told me that they would not scale the workout. I just had to try to to toes-to-bar.

As you can see I tried - until my  hands and dignity were torn to shreds. It was the first time I ever came close to crying in the gym. And I didn't like the feeling. Not one bit.

How adorable is that hat with a bow? I'm already in love with this little ball of precious!

super saturday

I got to spend the day with all four of the babies who have stolen my heart. I can't imagine what their moms feel like because this aunt is so in love that sometimes I can't handle it!

capitol

Spent a couple of days in DC for work. The site of the US Capitol building always takes my breath away. Regardless of where we are as a Country, it is amazing to think of the people who risked everything for our independence.

Visited some of my favorite sites while in DC. I love the words of Gettysburg Address!

"But in a larger sense, we can not dedicate, we can not consecrate, we can not hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our ability to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember, what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here...that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain. That this Nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom, and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."

It's Official

I am officially a CrossFitter now!!

I was moved up to the CrossFit class this morning.

I won't lie to you - I was frightened!

But I survived.

And I'll be back at it tomorrow at 5 am again.

The only way to improve is to keep pushing myself...

Everyone Please Stand Up

And welcome our newest member of this crazy family...

Miss SisterSmalls!

SisterSmalls weighed in a 7 lbs. 15 oz. and she is perfect!

Just ask her oldest brother, who is already head over heels for her!

Her Tiny brother - not so much.

I think he is living under the assumption that if he pretends she isn't there, she will disappear.

I think he liked being the baby.

Match made some beef shanks and sent Dirty and I home with leftovers.

Delicious!

Seriously - make this recipe! (Though I believe she subs beef broth for red wine.)

paleo treat

I was craving cake and found the easiest recipe on the planet! Then I ate one piece and packed the rest up to go to the office so I didn't eat the entire thing!

Next time I will try it with peanut butter chips!

how does your garden grow?

Went out for dinner with Glinda and Fiero last week at a totally adorable restaurant that I didn't even know existed.

How cute is this garden box as you walk in?

12.2

You already saw this picture. But it is safe to say that I am dealing with some serious anxiety about the workout that will be released this evening.

I just know it is going to include double-unders or pull-ups and I'm going to die.

Ok, he's not Columbian. But he is adorable!

Dirty, Tiger, and I spent our Friday night at Wicked.

I still love that play!

for love of the game

Tiny and I were enjoying a moment at Biggie's t-ball game. Then it was off to the playground.

"Just two more seconds, Aunt Airplane?"

nah, nah, nah, nah

Hey, hey - goodbye! My last glass of wine before starting the Paleo Breaking Barriers Challenge at the gym.

30 Days of STRICT Paleo eating - with another 30 days that can include the occasional wine/sugar/dairy. So far, so good.

Baseline workout is on Friday so we can measure our results at the end of the challenge.

boys of spring

It is hard to have a bad day at work when it starts at the baseball stadium.

We announced that we signed 20 year extensions with both the San Diego Padres and Seattle Mariners for our baseball stadium! Very exciting stuff!

BOOM!

I now have the CrossFit Open Workout 12.2 under my belt.

And it can be said that I KILLED it!!

61/365

So, you can see that I made it through all 30 of the 45 lb. snatches and all 30 of the 75 lb. snatches! Without failure!

I had about a minute and a half left when I was done with those and we had some issues with getting the right weight for the 100 lbs. It was my fault - I didn't think that I would make it to that weight so I didn't have the plates out.

By the time I got them on, I had like 40 seconds to go and I couldn't get 100 lbs. up.

I may have been able to if I had the time to attempt it one or two more times, but maybe next time.

For now, I am happy with my score!

Getting stronger every day!

Wanna Be A Baller...

Shot caller.

20-inch blades - on the Impala...

(Man, who doesn't love that song?!?!)

For Valentine's Day, I got Biggie and Tiny small gifts. Most of it came out of the $1 section at Target.

There was some candy, a white board, a marker, and a few other things in each bag.

As is typical of their personalities, Biggie opened his bag and had to take everything out of it right away.

Tiny, on the other hand, pulled the first thing out and decided to play with it for a while.

When Biggie noticed that everything had not come out of Tiny's bag yet, he questioned, "What did Tiny get?"

I told him not to worry the exact same things were in each bag.

I said, "That's how I roll, Biggie."

He looked right at me and said, "I bet you do know how to roll."

(I like to think he said it with admiration in his voice.)

So it looks like I've done it.

I've achieved baller status in the eyes of my nephew.
