Where Does The Time Go?

I can't believe it has been over a week since I last posted.

I even missed Miscellany Monday and that's how I think...

I got this cartoon in my inbox this morning and it made me laugh. So I sent it over to O'Dub and he said it seemed accurate to him.

Which made me laugh again.

So I'm sharing it with you so you can get a feel for the life I'm living these days.

Work has been crazy! Early ballots go out next week so we are in hyper-voter-communication mode right now.

The Beav* is my new coworker and between the two of us I think we are spending more time on the road than a long-haul trucker.

Unfortunately it isn't together and I almost fell asleep on my way to Safford the other day. I seriously had to stop for a Rockstar and some sunflower seeds.

They worked and I made it with no major issues.

Come to think of it, I could use a nap right now.

I'll give you a brief overview of what else I've been up to and hope that I have some free time in the days to come to expand on some of the more hilarious stories.

- Dirty took a ride in the ambulance and got four stitches in her chin.
- Clay Walker came to town and Sissy and I went with a group of friends to see him. Stayed out until 3 in the morning.
- The Homerun Leaders made a disappointing showing last weekend, but I made a few trades and adjustments to my line-up, so cross your fingers for some good results this weekend.
- The good Lord willing and the crik don't rise - I'm going to be an aunt again!
- Lots of babies due to arrive in the world in the next 3-4 weeks - get ready for pictures!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

[one]
I was in Flagstaff for work last week (there will be a special post pertaining to the trip) and I was able to attend Such-n-such's birthday party. I was also able to meet her identical twin sister for the first time. On Friday night, I was standing in the kitchen of the party with twin sister and we were laughing about something when she turned to me and said, I'm going to get you one of those shock collars that shocks you whenever you laugh. I will admit I was a little hurt until she explained that it was because my laugh is so contagious that when I laugh, she laughs, and then she almost pees her pants.

[two]
Sometime in the coming days I will detail the adventure that was the creation of this apple crisp:
Trust me, it was DELICIOUS! And adventurous!

[three]
On Saturday, I was in the car with Sissy and I was telling her some story in which I apparently took someone's problems and made them my own. She said to me, You need to stop doing that. You have too big of a heart. I replied with something like, Yes, a huge character flaw.
I'm not trying to tell you all that I'm the most wonderful, caring, giving person in the world. I just thought it was interesting that someone who tell a person that their heart was too big.
(Though I will admit that I often get hurt because I care too much.)

[four]
I may be a little late on this post, but it is FOOTBALL SEASON! I love college football. Mostly during the bowl season, but I just think that they play with so much more heart than the professionals. That being said, I have joined a Fantasy Football League. It is crazy and laughable, but I won my match-up last week and if the Saints play worth a darn tonight, there is a good chance I can win this week's match-up also!
Everyone cross your fingers for my team, the Homerun Leaders! (Yeah, I'm hilarious! It's a league full of men, I wanted them to think I didn't know anything about football.)

Betty and Jane

When we were kids we didn't really have friends. We had cousins.

Don't get me wrong, our cousins were our friends and they still are.

But it never really occurred to me that other people didn't have cousins to hang out with all summer and stay the night with and just generally cause a commotion.

The one exception to the cousin rule that I can remember, was the Triplets*. Roommate*, Baldy*, and their sister Braids*.

The Triplets grew up in a house that was located on the grounds of the local high school, where we would later attend. Their mom was a teacher and their dad worked in the maintenance department. Match.mom also worked at the high school.

I know that the Triplets and I went to school together from kindergarten on, but I think there may have even been a shared preschool class in there at one point.

To say we have a history, is the world's greatest understatement.

I spent so many nights at their house and so many years in school with them, that I sometimes felt like they were another extension of my family.

During the summers in the weeks before school would start, our moms would be working at the school to get their classrooms ready for the year, and the three of us would run around the school wreaking havoc!

I mean to tell you that we would meet up in the morning and we would have our run of the place all day.

Their mom taught business, so there were typewriters and phones at all of the work stations in her classroom. So we would spend a part of the day in there making fake phone calls and typing up memos. Then we would head over to Match's science classroom and play with the sinks and experiment stations in the back. Once that got boring, we would find another friend whose mom was the librarian and we would head to the library to play some computer game for hours.

Sometimes we would just run around the campus, checking out lockers and seeing what we could find.

There was a kid who was a little older than us, I think he would work at the high school during the summer and we would call him Lugi Saliva because his real name was similar to those two words. We really weren't very nice.

So one year in high school chemistry class, Braids and I were supposed to do a project. I really can't remember the parameters of the projects, but I know that we were supposed to do an experiment and then write up the results and give an oral presentation to the rest of the class.

Well, it turns out that we didn't really care too much about the project so the weekend before it was due we were kind of scrambling to find something. We went to Match's classroom and starting looking through some science books to find an experiment, and somehow came up with our own that included smoking a lot of cigarettes and measuring breaths. Or something like that.

Really, all I can remember was that cigarettes were involved. I can't even remember how we got the cigarettes because we certainly weren't old enough to buy them.

So, on a Sunday afternoon, we drove her car behind the community center in town and did a series of physical activities. Then we smoked like five cigarettes each and did them again.

We recorded whatever needed to be recorded and wrote up a report.

Then we went to class the following week and told everyone how "Betty" and "Jane" reacted to smoking cigarettes and then doing physical activity.

Apparently we wowed someone because I got an A in that class.

And I don't think I've ever wanted to smoke another cigarette.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. I started boot camp this morning. It wasn't as much cardio as I expected, but a workout nonetheless. I'm hoping he kept it easy for the first class so no one would die and it will get progressively more challenging. Stay tuned.

2. I am feeling a little roller coaster-y these days. I don't know what it is. It is like I have things that I can not wrap my brain around and they are keeping me unbalanced. In addition, I'm having a hard time putting it all into words, so even if I wanted to talk about it, I can't.

3. We are slowly winning the bug battle at la Casa de Risada. We had the Battle of Ant Hill on Friday and then Captain Diddy brought in the big guns with his sprayer on Saturday night. Those bugs will be sorry they ever tried to invade us!

4. In my dreams I have a beautiful backyard with a patio where I can drink my coffee in the morning while I enjoy the fresh air. In my reality my backyard is full of weeds and dead bugs and I leave my house at 4:30 to to go boot camp. Can someone please help?

An Inspiration

I was up in Prescott for work yesterday and as I walked out of our office with one of my staff members, a convertible with four high school girls drove by.

One of them looked over and yelled out to me, I love your dress.

I yelled back, Thank you.

Then they had to stop and wait for another car to pull out and she yelled out to me, You are my inspiration.

What?

Apparently, I'm so beautiful that I'm an inspiration.

Who knew?

Wednesday Wisdom

"Life is partly what we make it, and partly what is made by the friends we choose."
-Tennessee Williams

How awesomely true is that statement?

Thank you to all of my friends for making my life worth living!

one.
We had a blast at the ranch. Lots of stories to come! But I'll give you a picture so you can see the grass.

two.
I am torn. PapaBear has scheduled our fall visit to the ranch for the same weekend as the half-marathon I am signed up for. I set a goal for the race, but I don't know how many more times I'll get to visit the ranch with my whole family.... Ugh - I hate decisions.

three.
I'm already dreaming of a vacation after Election Day in November. Now I just need someone willing to fund it. Any takers?

four.
I am 100% in love with my nephews, but after a full weekend with them (without their mom), I'm not sure I'm ready for some of my own...

Whirlwind of Crazy

I started my new job yesterday.

It is going to be a big job and I definitely have my work cut out for me. But I'm so excited for it!

Unfortunately, my blog may suffer for the next couple of days because of it.

And I'm truly sorry for that.

I'll be back and better than ever soon!!

Enjoy your long weekend and be safe!
