Miscellany Monday

43/365
all grown up

I was at a public hearing for the Air Force base in our community and the speaker representing the Governor's office was my former intern.

I like to say I made him the man he is today.

a day of love

Lots of things I love on Valentine's Day!

Red shoes with zebra leggings, kale sauteed with bacon and shallots, red zinfandel, and paleo chocolate mug cake with coconut milk ice cream.

Yum!

long live cowboys

And the women who love them!

My grandparents have been married for over 60 years and in this picture they are helping to celebrate Arizona's Centennial with the state's cattlemen!

paleo goodness

The picture doesn't do this dish justice, but I promise you it is so easy and so, SO good!

drinkin', lovin', fightin' cowboys

Went out dancing with FredAstaire and Ginger for Ginger's birthday. I broke out the old shark boots for the occasion.

There are few things I love more than country dancing at a hole-in-the-wall bar.

48/365
defying gravity

Went with Glinda and Fiero to see Wicked at Gammage.

Loved it just as much fifth time! (And excited to see it a sixth this week!)

woot woot

As I previously mentioned - I hit a new personal record for a 5K and I am stoked!

Now head on over to Carissa's blog and check out a blog you've never read before.

West Side Story

I mentioned on Monday that FredAstaire and Ginger got married this past weekend. And I'm certain that I have mentioned to you before how much I love to dance.

Though I'm not sure that I've told you that is a common trait among my family members. We are dancers. Not trained. Not formal. Just fun.

Seriously, if I haven't told you before, we have bands at our family reunions.

We LOVE to dance!

We'll go to weddings of friends and look around the dance floor and we'll be the only ones out there. I am sure that people think we are crazy.

One of our favorite things to do on the dance floor at a wedding (or really any event in which there is music and a dance floor) is to get in a circle and take turns dancing in the middle of the circle. It is great fun and everyone can get into it.

So, on Saturday night, we were all waiting for the dancing portion of the reception to start so we could "break it down like inner-city kids."

The first song the DJ played was "Shout." A great song to get the dancing started. And much to our dismay, Ginger's family was out there in force as well.

What? We aren't used to sharing the dance floor.

A couple of songs in, the DJ puts on "Sexy Back." As JT is singing it, Ginger's family gets into a circle and takes turns dancing in the middle.

Match and I almost died!

I'm telling you, we were like the Sharks and the Jets out there.

It was pure madness!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

one.
FredAstaire got married on Saturday night. The wedding was beautiful!

Fred and I learned how to dance together and we went all through school together and we've been great friends forever! I was *thisclose* to being in his wedding. He married a WONDERFUL woman, Ginger*!

PapaBear and Me outside the church.

Tiny and Biggie (they are holding hands...)

two.
I don't want to pack for the week. While this new job is giving me a great opportunity to spend time with Sissy and the fam, I am really disliking having to choose my clothes at the beginning of the week and being committed to them.

three.
We moved Sissy and the fam into their new house this weekend.

I meant to take pics of the chaos for all of you, but I was working too hard. I'll try to get some pics of the place this week.

four.
I REALLY want a flip cam. I think I would enjoy filming some of the madness that is my life.

five.
I have set myself a goal of reading 30 books this year. I am at 4 so far.

I just started reading "Promise Me." Have I ever told you that I met Nancy Brinker in 2004? Yep, drove her around Albuquerque, NM.

And it reminds me that I need to start fundraising for the 3-Day. I'll put that on the list for next weekend.

Professionalism?

Yesterday the family got together for my grandma's birthday and my cousin, FredAstaire* was there. FredAstaire is an engineer and about a year ago he got a job with a new firm. He has now been there long enough that he has people working under him and he sits in on their interviews.

In the last couple of months, a new guy was hired. We'll call him Eminem*. Eminem is right out of college and FredAstaire has found himself having to teach this young fellow all about proper office behaviors.

For example, they sit in cubicles, and every morning at around 8:02 am, Eminem comes into FredAstaire's cube and stands behind him before making himself known. About a week ago, they had to have their first lesson of cubicle etiquette and Eminem has followed protocol since then.

Then problem #2 arrived. This beats the shit out of problem #1.

Eminem sent FredAstaire an email asking him to review a program for him. (I'm not really sure what exactly that means.) Pretty simple request, right? Wrong.

The email went something like this:

"Yo, bra. This program is totally fizzle. Would you be sick twisted awesome and check it out for me? Thanks, Eminem (ballin') ps - I'm trippin to become the next Eminem."

Friends, I can not make this up. Is this kid serious?
