Oh Happy Day

Happy Birthday, Diddy!!

Twenty-seven years ago today, Diddy was born. And the Teeny Tiny Baby J knew what he was doing because there are a lot of days that I wouldn't know what to do without this guy.

He doesn't take my crap and always calls me on it.

He gets my jokes when no one else does.

His aversion to crying women leads to him being totally inappropriate when I'm upset, but it always makes me laugh.

We have had some hilarious times!

I could post a lot of random references to things that no one but Diddy would get, but that would probably bore all of you.

So I'll leave you with this...

Do I think other people would enjoy our company?

Obviously!

Malama, my friend!

Kickin' It Old School

First of all, Diddy told me the other day that he quit reading my blog because it wasn't funny anymore. That kind of hurt my feelings, but whatever. I can't always be funny.

Either way, back to my story.

I've mentioned before that I'm not really hip. I'm not really up with the latest fashions, and I certainly don't listen to the newest music.

A large part of the problem is that I rely on my iPod for the majority of my music. The radio often makes me angry and I know that I can control my iPod and that works for me.

For that reason I don't hear a lot of new music until it is rather old.

Additionally, I am a big fan of old school rap. Give me a little Snoop, Dr. Dre, and Tupac and I'm happy. I mean come on people, Ladies Love Cool James.

A couple of months ago I was on the phone with Diddy and he asked me what  G6 is.

My response?

"A Pontiac?"

No, I'm not kidding. To my credit we weren't even talking about music so it's not like I knew he was referring to a line in a song.

I told you I'm not hip.

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

baby peppers

Do you see that little jalapeno pepper?? I'm so excited for it to grow up and be in the food that I cook!!

The garden is growing - a little slower than I would prefer, but it is growing and I'm so excited for harvest and delicious homegrown veggies!

circle of life

Have I already told you all about Ed? He was my dog back in the day. I rescued him from an abusive environment when he was 9 years old. He lived with me for two years and then I got a job where I traveled a lot so a family down the road from my parents adopted him.

And he lived happily ever after. Until a couple of weeks ago, when he died peacefully.

RIP Ed. There will never be another like you.

guided-missile destroyer

On May 7, the day that he would have turned 35 years old, Lt. Michael Murphy was honored by the Navy when they named DDG 112 the USS Michael Murphy.

Lt. Murphy was the lead officer of Operation Red Wing, and he embodied what it means to be a hero. Just looking at the pictures made me cry.

search and rescue

Dirty and I are cat-sitting right now.

Do you remember those triplets that I used to babysit? Well, they are heading here from Guam and they sent the cats ahead for us to take care of while they make their way down the road.

They are inside cats. And tonight they got out of the house.

It took Dirty, Match, SuperFan, and me to get the second one to come home.

I'm fairly certain it was one of those times that we should have had a flip cam following us around.

FITBF

Let me start off this post by apologizing. I started my new job on Monday and I am LOVING it. However, we work ten-hour days Monday through Thursday and I spent the week getting adjusted to that schedule. Let me tell you - it will wear you out, but I'm certainly enjoying this Friday off business.

Now, on to the filling in...

1.   What I love most about my home is     that one of these days I'm going to decorate just how I want :)     .

2.  I'm excited because,    I really like my job, I get to spend tomorrow with my nephews, and we're going to the ranch next weekend  .

3.  My preferred method for blowing  off steam when I 'm frustrated is     yelling at Diddy! Just kidding -  usually I like to talk about what is frustrating me one time and then move on. Depending on what is frustrating me, I may run or drink  .

4.  Currently I am craving   the french onion soup from the steak house at John Ascuaga's nugget in Reno. Seriously - so good! I don't even like french onion soup  .

5.  The thing I love most about my mom is     that she is always there for me. She will tell me what I need to hear, even it if isn't what I want to hear. And if someone is mean to me, she will give them hell  .

6.  If I was going to write a book about my life, the title would be       "Do What I Say And No One Will Get Hurt"   .

7.  If I were to eat one thing for the rest of eternity it would be       I just can't make this decision. I can't be committed to one food. Right now, I would probably say chips, salsa, and guacamole   .

Kind of random, but I wanted to share a picture...
Cribs, Glinda, and me at Cribs' wedding!

Now head on over to Lauren's blog on fill-in!

A Short Story

I started my new job today! It was mostly uneventful - a little orientation, some touring, a bit of waiting.

I did intend to take a picture of my sadly barren office for you all to see, but I apparently forgot.

I'm super excited about this opportunity and I can't wait to get into the swing of things.

Yesterday was Sissy's birthday. I should really dedicate a post to her, maybe you'll get one later this week. Either way, despite my better judgement and need for sleep, I went ahead and attended the Kenny Chesney concert with her, Diddy, and BIL.

It was a BLAST!

I love live music. If this new gig doesn't work out maybe I'll move to Texas and work in the music industry there...

That's all I've got for now, friends. I need to get myself ready for tomorrow and get to bed.

I'm an old lady!
