No Good Way

Match and I at the Buckeye Hawks football game. It was like a production to get this picture taken.
Yes, friends, it is Friday night. And I am blogging.

Tonight I went with Papa and Match to Munchkin's FFA BBQ and then to the Buckeye Hawks football game!

It's ok to be jealous of how totally awesomely exciting my life is!

(That line up there just reminded me of a guy who bought the house I grew up in. His name was Toad Lee - and Sissy, YogaHippy, and I used to call him Toad Lee Awesome. Because, why not?)

Either way, as I mentioned, we started the night at the FFA BBQ, where they served the most disgusting BBQ meat that I have ever eaten and corn on the cob.

So we were sitting at a table with the family and PieRanch said, "I hate eating corn on the cob in public."

Which reminded me of the time we were at the Cattle Growers convention and there was this guy I had a major crush on. So we were in the dinner line together and they were serving corn on the cob. We both got a piece.

Then we went to find a seat and there were no tables with empty seats (have I already told you this story?), so we sat at a table alone and were enjoying our dinner and random conversation.

When he said, "You know, there really is no good way to eat corn on the cob, is there? You just have to make out with it."

What?

How awkward is that?

No Time To Think

Man, I'll tell you what - this week has been CRAZY!

Between work events and birthday dinner, I feel like I've been going, going, going with no time to think.

We did have Monday off of work, and I started the day/week/year off right with CrossFit at 6am. The WOD was Helen - which consists of three rounds of a 400 m run, 21 kettle bell swings (35 lb), 12 pull-ups (I do jumping). I finished that workout in 9:49, which I was super proud of!

Then, as we were resting the CrossFit class was getting ready to run a mile for time. So my coach decided we would do that. Not having run a mile for time in a while, I really didn't have an idea of how fast I could do it, but I knew that my fastest run was in the 10:40/mile range for a 5K so I thought it would be in that area. I was feeling a little silly because the CrossFitters were talking about doing 5- and 6-minute miles. But I thought that all I can do is my best, so off I went.

As I was finishing the first 800, the clock was around the 4-minute mark and there was one CrossFit lady not too far in front of me. As I ran by my coach whispered to me, "Catch her, Airplane." And catch her I did. I beat her by about a minute and came in at my fastest mile ever in 8:28. Super stoked! I will try to run a couple more throughout the year to see how I'm doing.

Wednesday was Dirty's birthday and Thursday was Munchkin's, so on Wednesday night Diddy and I took them out for the 2nd Annual Birthday Sushi Extravaganza! It was a riot! I'm telling you what, that Munchkin is hilarious! And she promised Diddy and I that for our birthdays we can take her to a Little People convention - we are STOKED!!

Friday afternoon I headed down to Tucson to stay the night with Tiger (formerly Peach), so that I could be a spectator/cheerleader for my CrossFit peeps at a competition on Saturday morning.

Then it was home last night to meet up with Diddy, Dirty, and some others for a night of dancing.

Birthday lunch with Granny B this afternoon wrapped up the week and I am exhausted!

I hope to post more in the coming week...

Christmas Wrapping - The End

You know, after reading over yesterday's post again, I realized that there really isn't much to tell.

I mean, Christmas with the Smalls' is always a blast! The two of them are hilarious - each in their own way. Tiny doesn't say many words, but he sure knows how to communicate. And Biggie is becoming such a boy. It sounds silly, but he seems so grown up now.

As you saw from the picture on Monday, Tiny got a little four-wheeler. It has a battery and he just pushes the button and it goes. He hasn't really mastered the art of steering yet, so he just drives in whatever direction the wheels are pointing until someone stops him and turns him.

Biggie got a new bike and a scooter from me. He didn't quite get the hang of the scooter yet, but I think he'll learn to love it. And if not, I do.

My cousin, Munchkin* came over to visit on Christmas and she told me that she loved talking to me because I was so funny - I immediately ran out and bought her another present. (Ok, maybe not, but I do love it when people tell me I'm funny.)

Otherwise, everything was pretty run-of-the-mill Christmas. Lots of food. Lots of cheer. Blah, blah, blah.

In the spirit of my Christmas gift, I have signed up to run a 5K on New Years Day. This year I would like to participate in more races of the 5 and 10K varieties and I figured what better way that to start the year doing one?!?

This means that I will most likely be in bed early on New Years Eve, which doesn't really make me said because a) I'm an old lady and b) NYE has never really been all that great for me. I don't really like crowds and they are pretty much unavoidable on NYE. So, if you need me, try to contact me before 10 pm - otherwise, it'll have to wait until 2011.
