Be Vewy, Vewy Quiet...

We're hunting wabbits!!

That's right folks, my neighborhood is about to have one less rabbit.

I got home yesterday to find that a rabbit had gotten into my garden and indulged on all of the leaves on my broccoli plants, and is working his way through the cauliflower.

I was NOT pleased.

Fortunately for him, I didn't have time to take action against him last night or this morning. However, while he's getting comfortable in his afternoon snacking routine, I'm planning an all out war!

I am on the hunt for a BB gun, some fencing, and perhaps some rabbit poison.

That little guy doesn't even know that I have Fridays off and I'll be waiting for him tomorrow.

Does anyone know where I can get some badger urine?

A Little Something Different

Starting on Saturday, Sept. 24 - I joined the Paleo Challenge 4.2 at my CrossFit gym. (Don't worry about what the 4.2 stands for - it only makes sense to us at the gym.)

In order to keep myself honest, and educate anyone who cares on the process, I will be recording my journey over at Airplane Food

I know what you're thinking, Airplane, you can't even post to this blog regularly, how are you going to keep up two blogs?

The truth is, I don't know. And I'm sorry for that.

However, if you have the desire to read about my journey into caveman status, probably learn a little more about how I feel about nutrition, listen to me rant about diets and misinformation, and find out when I complete my first hanging pull-up (fingers crossed) - then please join me over there.

If not, continue to check in here and curse me because I'm not posting enough.

Miscellany Monday

Good Monday morning!

one
Ah-ah-ah- CHOO!

I started sneezing yesterday and I don't think I've stopped.

Except while at Crossfit this morning. That's weird.

Either way, I'm sitting at my desk with my nose running like a sieve and sneezing every minute or so. I think this is going to be a long day!

Ballin'

Saturday was the 64th Birthday of the United States Air Force (doesn't that seem young?).

Thanks to my new job, I was hosting a table at the Air Force Ball in Glendale and Diddy was priveliged to be my date. (Super lucky guy, right?)

We had a blast! Between the Pageant of Flags, the Toasting, and the singing of the Air Force Song - it was an all together good time!

And I must say, we most certainly had the best shoes at the ball:

Field Trip!

A couple of weeks ago I took Biggie to a DBacks game and we had a blast!

He is in Pre-K this year and they are learning their letters. So each week is a new letter and on Friday for show-and-tell he has to bring something that begins with that letter.

This particular week the letter was R, so we decided to get something at the baseball game that he could take.

He settled on a "r-r-r-Rally Monkey" only he calls him Rally the Monkey (which I, of course, think is adorable.)

And ok, maybe I got him a little more than just the monkey, but who could say no to that face?

And it was all worth it when I dropped him off at home that night and when I was leaving he ran to the door and gave me a huge hug and said, "Aunt Airplane, I super love you!"

Now head on over to lowercase letters and link up!

Whew! It's finally Friday!

It has been a busy week and a busy Friday...

After you learn some random things about me below, head on over an link up with Lauren.

1.   You should always take time to     brush your teeth.  And laugh. Definitely laugh - life is too short to take it so seriously .

2.    Hott-pepper      make(s) the world a happier place to be.

3.  I can hardly wait for   Nashville in February!!   .

4.    Saturday   is my favorite day of the week.

5.  Something totally dumb and ridiculous that I love is    ABC Family original movies .

6.  If I could, I would   hire a chef to make me a salad bar for every meal. I LOVE salad bars!     .

7.  I rather like    having dance parties in my car with my nephews. Taio Cruz is our inspiration   .

Everyday I'm Shufflin'...

I am having an internal battle.

With this blog.

Don't get me wrong - I love writing the blog. I especially love it when someone tells me that it made them laugh.

However, I don't always have something funny to write about. I mean, I could probably find at least one point in each day in which I'm laughing hysterically; but it doesn't always translate to good writing. And sometimes, it doesn't make sense to anyone but Diddy or Match.

I do have a lot of things that I want to say about life.

But I don't want to post just to post on here.

I don't feel like that would be any more fulfilling for me as a writer or you as a reader than just leaving  the page blank.

All that being said, I have something to say:

Today, I am annoyed with diets. (Why lie? Most days I'm annoyed with diets.) I get really frustrated with people who are looking for the quick way to get slim. Your overall health should be the most important thing in your life. And the thing is, "healthy" looks different on every person. It isn't a one size fits all kind of thing. And really, is anything really one size fits all? REALLY?

I do think it is good for people who have had success with certain eating plans or exercise regimes to share that success with others, but it is totally unfair to expect someone to do the same thing as you and get the same results. It is also unrealistic.

So the next time you see someone and you want to judge them by their size, think twice. You don't know what they are struggling with.

I'm not just saying that because I'm fat.

I'm saying it because I could likely kick your ass.

I Will Always Remember

I was a junior at the University of Arizona. I was in the Alpha Chi Omega house. My alarm had just gone off.

My roommate and I both had 8 am Tuesday/Thursday classes so our alarms had gone off and we were slowing getting out of bed when someone knocked on our door. We opened it to find one of our sisters crying. She told us to turn on the TV - we were under attack. A plane had flown into both of the WTC towers and one into the Pentagon. My roommate's mom worked at the Pentagon.

We sat there in our room while she tried to get someone - anyone - on the phone to find out if her mom was ok. No one had heard from her. I sat on her bed and held her through what should have been my 8 am class.

We moved to the TV room in the house where girls were gathered around watching the news. I attempted to go to my 10 am class, but when I got there the teacher said that it wasn't worth doing a lesson - if we chose to, we could stay in class and talk about the events with each other, but if we wanted to leave, we were welcome to do so.

I walked across an eerily empty campus back to the house and up the stairs to a near silent TV room. The only sounds were those of the news and an occasional sob.

I remember swelling with pride at the way we all rallied around NYC and DC. At the love that everyone had for our Country.

To this day I can not watch footage from that day without tearing up and usually out and out crying.

One of the greatest memories I have of that time was when President Bush visited Ground Zero, despite the advice of those around him, and quite unplanned got up onto a pile of rubble that I believe turned out to be a fire truck, and spoke to the men and women who were searching day and night for survivors.

When he yells out, "I can hear you!" I get goosebumps. I want to stand up and chant U-S-A with them!

I do not directly know anyone who was killed in the attacks that day. My roommate's mom made it out.  I can not imagine the pain that those families who lost loved ones feel.

I do know this - when that first plane, and three succeeding it, hit - they hurt me. They hurt my Country. They hurt my fellow Americans. I will never forget how that felt. I will never forget how it feels. I will never forget. I will always remember.

If you want to share your memories, head on over to Wild&Precious and link up.

Miscellany on a Wednesday

Just a few small things to share in the middle of the week...

1. I'm going to have a new nephew!!! Banana and Bunner are expecting BabyBunner in January! And I can't wait! Being an aunt to nephews R-O-C-K-S!

2. I had to swing by Granny B's house the other day to pick up some stuff for Match. She was in a hurry because she had to go meet "the Old Ladies" for dinner. As we were walking out she was telling me how she doesn't even want to go to dinner with them because all they ever talk about it going to the doctor and getting second opinions.

Then she tells me that when she had tendinitis and was going to get surgery they kept asking her if she got a second opinion and she didn't understand why she would need one, the doctor was a hand doctor.

I told her next time she should tell them, "Yes. I got a second opinion. His. I said it hurt, he agreed."

I thought she was going to pass out she was laughing so hard.

It is possible that she thinks I'm funnier than I think I am.

Picture Pages, Picture Pages...

I truly wish that I had more to blog about, but sadly, my life has been kind of normal lately.

I was out of town all week last week at a conference for work and then went straight to Jonestown for a weekend at the Ranch with the family.

Rather than telling you a story, I will share our ranch adventure in pictures...

This is how TinySmalls spent the majority of his weekend at the ranch. That kid LOVES the dirt!

Papa and Biggie pushing the cattle to the tank.

My little men. How adorable are they??

Tiny was making sure to hydrate on a break from work.

Papa and Tiny "driving the John Deere tractor." That little guy is obsessed!

Post-lunch naptime. When it was time to wake up from this nap and head back to work, Biggie said, "It's hard to go back to work."
